REQUIREMENTS:
- All substitute teachers for ELITE SCHOOL STAFFING are required to have earned a minimum of 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university.
- The school district must request a substitute teacher permit on behalf of the substitute teacher which is issued by the Michigan Department of Education. DISTRICT WILL PAY FOR THE PERMIT.
- The district will pay for Livescan (fingerprint) and sub-permit fees.
- Full-time and part-time positions are available.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain a neat and orderly classroom (i.e. straightens chairs, tables, sweep floors, remove all trash from the floor, etc.)
- Take daily attendance in accordance with school procedures.
- Assist in Lesson Plans when needed.
- Communicate expectations for student behavior.
- Ensure students are never left unattended.
- Familiar with the emergency evacuation routes for each classroom.
- Know the procedure for referring students with behavior concerns to a school culture specialist.
- Establishes and maintains order in the classroom.
- Corrects any student papers assigned during the day.
- Returns instructional materials and equipment to the proper place.
- Use positive verbal and non-verbal skills with staff and students.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information concerning students, staff, or parent/guardian in any public setting.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies.
- Possess problem-solving skills, patience, reasoning, creativity, judgment, and analytical abilities.
- Possess the ability to plan appropriate educational activities for students when there are no plans available or when assigned because of an emergency.
- Must be able to accept direction from school administration.
- Dress professionally and maintain professionalism at all times.
