About the Job
Paraprofessional – Kindergarten through 8th grade
Monday - Friday.
7:30am to 4:00pm.
Hourly: $16.50-$18.00/hr.
Location:
Detroit Service-Learning Academy.
Redford Service-Learning Academy.
Summary:
- Responsible for ensuring a safe, nurturing, high-quality educational environment for program children and families while maintaining documentation of services provided.
Essential Functions:
(Works w/ Lead Teacher in)
- Set up and maintain a safe, healthy, developmentally appropriate learning environment.
- Complete and execute daily lesson plans based on individual children's needs.
- Maintain program documentation on children and families.
- Support and encourage parent involvement through parent day activities, field trips, volunteer opportunities, conferences, and home visits.
- Document and communicate children's progress using the Child Observation Record (COR).
Training, knowledge, experience and certification(s) required:
- High School diploma required.
- Must meet the State of Michigan requirements for being a Title 1 paraprofessional with either 60 college credits completed in any subject or a passing score on the ETS Para Pro Assessment.
- Experience working in a school or with elementary experience is required.
Physical Requirement:
- Able to lift 15 pounds to carry, push and/or pull items.
- Hear and speak to exchange information in person or on the telephone.
- The ability to travel to other buildings within the district is required.
