Reading Tutor/MTSS Support
Department: Special Education
Report To: Director of Specialized Student Services
Salary: $50,000
Essential Functions:
- Provide instruction to academic and behaviorally at-risk students
- Provide small group instruction in Reading
- Reinforce skills and/or strategies by assisting identified students, in small groups, with activities that supplement the teacher’s instruction.
- Keep an activity log delineating what areas of instruction are focused on (i.e. reading, behavior)
- Collaborate with classroom teachers on a weekly basis to plan supplemental programming, accommodation strategies (behavioral) and/or differentiated instruction for identified students.
- Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learning of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional development meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support).
Specialized Education: Training, knowledge, experience and certification(s) required.
- Knowledge of child cognitive development and various learning styles
- Knowledge of MTSS and experience with facilitating Tier 2 instruction (core academics and behavioral)
- Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative student data
- Strength in using data to drive instruction
Skills & Abilities:
- Possess experience with Tier 2 instruction
- Possess the skills and desire to work in a collaborative team with others
- Possess experience with computer instruction and technology
Physical Requirement:
- Able to lift 15 pounds to carry, push/or pull items
- Hear and speak to exchange information in person or on the telephone
- The ability to travel to other buildings within the direct is required
